The Simon Iddol story

since 2006

The DJ’s DJ.  Award winning DJ / blogger/ TV producer.

Global tastemaker. One of the most influential music bloggers of the world. Official remixer of Giorgio Moroder. European DJ ambassador of Roland. Member of the Stanton global DJ team.

All these taglines are about one man, a Budapest based Hungarian artist, the mysterious DJ from Vatican City, or as known internationally and in the internet - Simon Iddol.

To become a DJ was a childhood dream for a Hungarian kid, but the timing was totally wrong. In the 80’s living in the east of communist Hungary, close to the Soviet border,  wasn’t exactly the best place for art and music. He  slept with rock history books, he was doing school-parties  school and was involved in the school radio, but DJing and underground music was not even a thing back in those days. However, just like in a fairytale, the 19 year old boy has become a professional DJ overnight. He met with Farkas Shulcz Tibor, one of the first DJ’s  of Hungary, they became friends.  Following a crazy night  he had to sub for the legendary rock music expert the kid got his first DJ resideny. Playing indie/punk music on a weekly basis.  A move to Frankfurt, Germany in the early 90’s techno era ment no return. Upon his return to Hungary, he joined Jonatán Rádió, besides doing a daily underground electronic music show, he started Dee-Zone, his techno/house extravaganza what became a TV show and a legendary compilation series soon. In the late 90’s he was the producer and editor of Z+ (later Viva TV), his electronic music show EEElektro won the best TV/radio show award twice. In 1999 he co-founded UCMG Hungary, the first and till today the most successful hungarian underground music label. The record company was able to introduce young talents internationally, the albums of Yonderboi, Zagar, Amorf Ördögök, Palotai Zsolt are still important milestones for Hungarian music history. Following a five year musical hiatus, when he was busy with videogames and motorsport, he returned to the music scene incognito, as Simon Iddol, mysterious DJ from  Vatican City. Simon Iddol was mashup producer, compilaton curator, music blogger. The world has only seen a hand drawn cartoon angel, the real name and identity of the creator was secret. His WHA!? Compilation series, his ‚AudioPorn Central‘  blogs and mixes quickly gained international fame. AudioPorn Central has become one of the top music blogs of the world, visited and loved by millions and helped boosting the careers of many young artists and the masterminds.

After touring, producing, doing workshops and a number of music projects Simon Iddol retired from the music business in February 2019, but in a few carefully selected occasions he will still DJ and in those events you will able to hear his magical sound.

This site is the permanent home of his art, design, music portfolio; and also the online platform of his new ventures.

Since 2022 Simon Iddol is one of the international ambassadors of the legendary Japanese drawing tablet maker, Wacom.
