the MAXIMUM BURNOUT is not a suicide note
this is my journey to find myself
cos I’ve lost everything, except a tiny piece of love
but my alterego took over the control
and I became Simon Iddol for real

each mix was aired first at radiocafé 98,6 in Budapest
each mix was/is downloadable from here separately
but these belong together, they were made for this album

the MAXIMUM BURNOUT started as fun project for five weeks
to celebrate the third birthday of Simon Iddol
but it ended up as a 5 months long mental journey
and at the end I really became Simon Iddol in real life as well

I got huge internet hype in my first 3 years
but during the 5 months I’ve done a lot of things in real life
now there is a proper team behind me (SI <3 GG+Nesta)
I did club and festival gigs
our sites are rising high
and ‘dream come true’ kind of collaborations started
all I can say is THANK YOU everybody

this is the end of the first, but the most important Simon Iddol period
everything what will happen from now on will be different
my first mashups been released on my myspace profile in April 2006
and everything what I did since then was published here in this site
and thousands and thousands of you followed it
it was a long journey, it was an incredible project
the guy with no past and no future really became Simon Iddol

I did a lot and I got so much love from you
even if nobody knew who is Simon Iddol
the weird angellike cartoon and the mysterious DJ from Vatican City
maybe it doesn’t matter at all now
cos I became Simon Iddol
masked or unmasked doesn’t matter now

this Vatican incognito started as a joke
with the myspace registration back in 2006
I thought nobody will take it seriously, nobody will believe it
but I was wrong
because in those days I wanted to keep my incognito
and many of you were asking and asking I’ve created the story
about Simon Iddol the mysterious producer
who lives in a squat house in Vatican City
with friends like Venus Dash the ex porn star and beauty queen
Maverick Cheese the world’s best and bravest stuntman
Bobby Disorder, the mad geek genius
Angello, who is on a 24/7 trip
and about running from Pope’s Swiss Guards
creating a secret hideout in the formal Secret Archives of Vatican
joyriding with the Popemobil in the Piazza San Pietro
the secret minimal techno nights, choir singing and bible copying
I’ve learned the postcode of Vatican City
and I really wanted to create a PO Box there for fan mailing

but on the other hand
since April 2006 I’ve made 37 mashups, 12 compilation albums, 1 daily international music blog and 1 bastard pop community and many special projects
millions millions seen, visited and possibly enjoyed these internet creations

and because of this massive feedback I decided to move forward
my UNMASKED World Tour is one of these new things
and to organize and clean up the past is the other

I decided to make an album from my best mashups
the ones which are the closest to my heart
the ones which are representing the Simon Iddol sound the most
this album is the Vatican Years

you can say that it’s only a best of compilation, with one new song
but as I see it, the Vatican Years is an album which was made for 2,5 years
I was really surprised how solid and characteristic the Simon Iddol sound is
and I think it doesn’t matter how long the album was in the works
and how many songs been released before
and pls note, the Vatican Years was finished faster than the Chinese Democracy ;)
